Reception
At Oaklands, the children get off to a great start to their primary school education. The setting is a warm and welcoming place which places children’s individual needs at the forefront of the curriculum.
Reception is a crucial year where the children build the foundations of good learning. The day is a mixture of adult led teaching, small group work and child-initiated learning.
Our Early Years Curriculum is a child-centred curriculum that focuses on the unique needs of each child, fostering an environment where they can thrive. It has been designed specifically for our Oaklands children through collaboration between teachers, teaching assistants, subject leaders and external early years experts. This has ensured that our curriculum is practical, relevant and specifically tailored to our children.
Core Experiences
We offer our children a rich variety of experiences that we aim for all our children to have been a part of by the time they leave the early years. These experiences help develop them into well-rounded members of the local community, and to equip them with the skills they will need to become resilient, independent, and confident learners in the future. We have categorised these core experiences into four key themes, as well as considering which of our school values each theme relates to.
