Meet the Governors
Who are the Governors?
The Governing Body play a vital part in the running of the school. They are a group of volunteers who are responsible for holding the school’s leadership to account and make sure that the school is performing and improving.
A full copy of details about the Governing Body including minutes of meetings can be found in the school office and are available on request.

Chair of Governors
Inclusion (including SEND)
As a parent of a child at Oaklands school, I became a Governor in September 2016 and this is my first Governor role. I work for a local authority in an audit and enforcement role which has been really useful. I am keen for all children to maximise their abilities and reach their full potential.
Attendance (incl. EYFS)
I work full-time for the Ministry of Justice; part of my role is training and development. I am very focused on developing people to reach their full potential.
I see my role as a Governor at Oakland’s as assisting the school with all that is needed to develop each child to their full potential, at each stage of their education.
Co-Opted Health & Safety Governor
Finance & Sports Premium
I have over 6 years experience as a School Business Manager, and 13 years experience working in education across both the Primary and Secondary sector.
Outside work, I run a large charitable theatre group. I am passionate about helping young people and seeing them succeed.
This is my first role as a school governor, and I am very excited by this opportunity to help the students and Oakland’s develop. I come from a family of ex-governors, so I have always seen the impact that good governance not only has on a school, but on the students. I am keen to play a positive role in helping the young people at Oakland’s succeed and fulfil their full potential.
Parent Safeguarding Governor
Safeguarding (incl. Online Safety)
I have worked in education and associated services for 15 years, having served as a staff governor in a previous school. As an ex-Oaklands student myself, when my eldest child joined the school I was keen to join the governing body as a parent governor and did so in January 2020.
I believe that every child should be supported and encouraged in their learning and that health, wellbeing, and safety must be prioritised to ensure children achieve their potential. I am keen to serve and support the Oaklands community in this role.
Curriculum & GPaS
I joined the school in April 2015 as the Deputy Head Teacher and have become incredibly proud of the school and its community. Prior to joining Oaklands, I worked in a variety of schools in many places including Yorkshire, Kent, Medway, and internationally in America. Over my career, I have worked in several roles including Senior Leader, SENCo and Class Teacher.
I have been a teacher in Kent and Medway for the last 13 years, the last 6 being at Oaklands. I have worked across all Key Stages and held leadership responsibilities that include KS1, Early Reading lead, EYFS lead and different subject leadership roles. I have also supported trainee teachers for the last 4 years.
This year I was delighted to be appointed as Assistant Headteacher in charge of Teaching and Learning at Oaklands. I was pleased to join the Governing body in 2023 and look forward to developing not only my own understanding of how a school operates but also continuing to help our fantastic school go from strength to strength.
